Dear residents,

Let me first wish those who are sitting for their national exams and their parents, all the very best. I hope your hard work will be well rewarded.

A new convenience

Works on the new Tampines West MRT station have already started and will be completed on 2017. It’s something to look forward to and at the same time, we will need to put up with some inconveniences such as road diversions, construction works and possibly noise too.

In the meantime…

We will be working with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the construction company, to put up as many advanced notices as possible. These will be in the form of on-line updates as well as directly to residents who are most affected by the works.

The parties concerned have assured us that they will plan the construction works such that there will be minimal inconvenience and disruptions to our daily life, as far as possible. I appreciate your kind understanding. I also welcome any suggestion and feedback to make this phase as smooth as possible.

Also coming your way…

Works on the Neighborhood Renewal Programme have also begun in the 900-series of blocks. You can expect new gardens and parks over the next two years. If all goes well, in five years, we would have completed all such improvement works and we can then enjoy an even more improved neighbourhood, both outside and inside our homes. This will surely raise the value of our homes.

Meet and greet

We are continuing our efforts to reach out to residents through block parties, town hall dialogues, community celebrations for the various ethnic groups and house visits. I hope to meet you at any of such occasions. I hope you will also see these events as an avenue to make new friends and know your neighbours.  This is important because we want to make living in Tampines, a wonderful experience, not just because of the pleasant physical environment but also because of the strong community ties.

I am also keen to know how else I can help our residents connect with each other and with me. I look forward to your ideas.
